FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions – if you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch!

You will need a sturdy pair of boots, preferable waterproof with an ankle support. A warm layer – it is often significantly colder when at elevation, so don’t let a sunny day fool you! Waterproofs, just in case. Water and snacks (I recommend 1- 2 litres of water). Walking poles are useful, particularly to protect knees while walking down steep sections, however they are not required. Any medication you might need for yourself. Personal items (phone, wallet etc).

See individual walks for specific meeting times / instructions. I can give directions if needed but all meeting spots can be easily found using google maps, though please note several areas have little or no phone reception so it is not possible to make last minute changes to plans.

Well behaved dogs on leads are permitted. Almost all walks go through areas of farmland or where wildlife such as ground nesting birds are present. Dogs are the owner’s responsibility and if they are causing a nuisance / danger, you will be asked to leave.

Children under the age of 16 are permitted but will be the responsibility of their parent / carer. Many of my walks are suitable for children and bringing them will foster a love of nature from an early age. Just please be certain that they are physically capable of the walk and they understand how to behave respectfully.

If you or any member of your party needs to cancel the booking, this should be done in writing or by e-mail by the person who made the booking. No refund is payable. However if you cancel more than 28 days ahead of the walk that you have booked, we will offer you the opportunity to re-book for a walk of the same value on an alternative day during the same calendar year for no additional charge. If you cancel 28 days or less in advance of the walk that you have booked then you will lose the money that you have paid.

We are able to walk in most weathers, if rain is forecast the walks will usually go ahead, please bring suitable waterproof clothing. If extreme weather is forecast (for example severe winds / fog / snow) walks will be cancelled and a refund given.

Yes! Most medical conditions should not stop you from enjoying nature and the countryside, however, let me know beforehand so that I can be aware, take precautions in case of any emergency and adapt the walk if necessary.

No specialist equipment other than that listed above is necessary. If you have a map and compass and wish to bring them, I can show you how to use these and look at our route on them, likewise if you wish to bring binoculars to have a better view of the scenery, these can enhance your walking experience.
