Description

Starting at Curbar Gap Car Park, the walk ascends along White edge, passing the trip point and looking out over Big Moor, this open access area is home to wildlife such as adders, red deer, curlew, water vole and short eared owl. Continuing along White Edge, we will walk towards The Grouse Inn on the A625 where there will be a short amount of road walking, before ascending back up along Froggatt and Curbar Edges. Both are favourite areas for climbers. We will pass Stoke Flat stone circle, though to date from the bronze age. The walk eventually crosses the road onto Baslow Edge, along here to the end of the cliff top and views of the mighty Chatsworth House.

The edges of the Peak District were once quarried for their rough gritstone which was used to make millstones for use in many areas of industry. This walk takes in 4 of these gritstone edges and gives spectacular views across the Peak District from Curbar and Froggat all the way to Kinder Scout and Bleaklow.
